NAWBO.ELEVATELeadership, strategic connections and business growth take center stage as NAWBO Southern Nevada strengthens its impact on women-owned businesses.

What does it take to move from running a successful business to leading one with vision?

That question took center stage as the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Nevada Chapter wrapped up ELEVATE: Stronger Together – From Operator to Visionary, held October 28 at the Historic Fifth Street School during National Women’s Small Business Month.

The event brought together entrepreneurs, executives and business leaders for candid conversations about scaling businesses, strengthening leadership and creating opportunities through meaningful connections.

The results extended beyond the event itself. New members joined, former members returned, and new business relationships were formed, reflecting renewed momentum for the chapter.

FROM OPERATOR TO VISIONARY

Moderated by Cara Clark, Executive Director of the Vegas Chamber Leadership Foundation, the discussion featured four accomplished entrepreneurs:

  • Sravani Atluri, CEO, College Lens – Innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Cathey Kuo, Founder, Elite Commercial Real Estate and Female Founders Foundation – Business expansion and investment.
  • Eva Martin, Entrepreneur and McDonald’s Franchisee – Scaling businesses and operational growth.
  • Leticia “Tish” Lopez, Owner, LA Consulting Services – Strategic planning and organizational leadership.

Sheryl Burnham of DeSquared served as Mistress of Ceremonies.

The conversation reinforced a powerful message: Building a business takes determination. Growing one takes strategy. Leading one takes vision.

“Women entrepreneurs are not simply building businesses. We are creating jobs, driving economic growth and shaping the future of our communities,” said Jo Cato, President of NAWBO Southern Nevada.

“But sometimes we’re so busy running our businesses that we lose sight of where we want to take them. ELEVATE is about creating the space to think bigger, build strategic relationships and move from managing the day-to-day to leading with purpose. We want women positioned not just to participate in business, but to lead, influence and create opportunities for others.”

The evening also featured ELEVATE: The Connection Exchange, interactive roundtable discussions that moved beyond traditional networking to encourage collaboration, shared solutions and potential business opportunities.

THREE PILLARS. ONE VISION FOR GROWTH.

Under Cato’s leadership, NAWBO Southern Nevada is advancing three strategic pillars:

  • MEMBERSHIP | LINK & GROW: Building valuable relationships, expanding networks and connecting women to business opportunities.
  • BUSINESS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT | ELEVATE & ASCEND: Developing visionary leaders through executive insights, mentorship and leadership programming.
  • ADVOCACY | RISE & FUEL: Amplifying women’s voices, advancing inclusion and strengthening their influence in the business community.

These pillars will guide expanded programming in 2027, including access to capital, executive leadership, AI and technology, business operations, procurement readiness and strategic partnerships.

“NAWBO must be more than an organization women join. It must be an organization that creates real value for their businesses,” Cato added. “Our focus is on meaningful connections, practical resources and opportunities that help women grow, lead and succeed.”

BUILDING ON THE MOMENTUM

ELEVATE was supported by Caesars Entertainment, Presenting Sponsor; Southwest Gas, Premier Sponsor; and the City of Las Vegas, alongside business and community partners.
