Houston police are investigating the death of a woman found inside her southeast Houston apartment Wednesday evening.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers with the Southeast Patrol Division responded around 5 p.m. Nov. 4 to an apartment in the 8400 block of Broadway after receiving a report of a person down.
Officers and Houston Fire Department personnel arrived and found a woman believed to be over 30 years old dead inside a bedroom.
Investigators said a friend had not seen the woman in several days and went to check on her. The friend discovered her body inside the apartment.
Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the woman’s body. However, detectives described the circumstances surrounding how she was found as unusual.
The woman lived alone, and investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released the woman’s identity or additional details about what may have led to her death.
