Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott on Thursday signed a bill into law that would better protect renters in the city.
The bill is dubbed the “Rental Dwelling Health and Safety Enforcement Act.”
Scott said the legislation specifically targets “multi family buildings that have repeatedly broken the rules.”
The mayor added that the legislation “creates a new process for rental dwelling receivership.”
The legislation also requires the housing commissioner to audit at least 100 rental inspections per year, and it mandates additional training for property managers, according to Scott.
